So I have become extremely obsessed with plaid. I have no idea why, but I cannot get enough plaid. It started with a plaid tablecloth that I saw at Big Lots that I just had to have. Next, I had to have this super cute plaid shirt that I fell in love with at Target. I even created a board on pinterest dedicated to all things plaid!
I like to make rag wreaths. So I decided I needed a plaid one for my kitchen to go with my new plaid tablecloth. I had the bright idea of hitting a thrift store and buying plaid flannel shirts to use for the wreath. I took Hattie on her first trip to a thrift store. Needless to say, she loved it! I didn’t have much luck finding plaid flannel shirts. But, I did find a whole mess of plaid pajama pants. So I got those instead.
I finally finished the wreath today. I have been “working” on it all week. It took me a little bit to cut three pairs of pajama pants into little strips. I did get a ton of strips out of the pants. I find this cutting process to be almost therapeutic. I like to watch tv and cut at the same time. I get strangely calm. The little bits and pieces of fabric do make a huge mess, but other than that this is a very easy project.
I am not sure if my new plaid obsession is just a Christmas thing or not. But, I am thinking it might be here to stay. I could do red and white plaid for Valentine’s Day, green and white plaid for St.Patrick’s Day and pastel plaid for Easter. The possibilities are endless. Thank goodness there are a ton of thrift stores in my area!
